If there's one word that best captures the Pullman community, it might be "family." In this small but spirited town, there is no shortage of friendly faces and helping hands. Add Pullman's safety, affordability, and access to metropolitan amenities, and it is no wonder why many families choose to move here.

Pullman also celebrates families who visit, from those making an overnight stop here during a summer road trip to those who have children studying at Washington State University (WSU) throughout the year. A staple celebration, for example, involves two weekends a year that WSU dedicates to Cougar and Pullman families with various events and specials available for anyone to enjoy.

Are you visiting Pullman during these Family Weekends - one this April and another in October? Here are a few tips for the most memorable family time:

1. Book your travel and accommodation in advance.

Family Weekends draw thousands of visitors, so transportation options and spaces can fill up quickly.

Pullman is reachable by plane or car. Our state-of-the-art regional airport has direct flights from Seattle or Boise through Alaska Airlines. Nearby airports also include Spokane and Lewiston. If driving or wanting to get around town, you might consider a rental through Budget, Enterprise or Hertz.

For accommodations, you can find options on our "Places to Stay" page, which includes Hotels & Motels, RV & Camping Sites, and Vacation Rentals, or visit short-term rental apps such as Airbnb or VRBO.

Please note: We are unable to verify every listing. Take a moment to read reviews, check out the host, and make sure it's a good fit before booking.

2. Find your next event at the WSU Family Weekend calendar.

This WSU calendar has all the events and activity options you could ever hope to know! If you're a local business wanting to promote your Family Weekend event or special, you can submit them directly to WSU.

3. Build your trip itinerary exploring our Visit Pullman website.
Aside from Family Weekend events and specials, Pullman has a lot more to do! Whether you're thinking of extending your stay or already planning your future visit, you can always find "Things to Do", including shopping to support businesses in town!

4. Follow our Visit Pullman channels for more travel inspiration.
